The arrow of Time
The arrow of Time
Hello friend, have you ever
thought why we are able to remember our past only. Why the time goes to end? We
have some scientific theories to understand this system.
In the universe, there are at least three arrows of time-
1. Thermodynamic
arrow of time.
2. Psychological
arrow of time.
3. Cosmological
arrow of time.
Thermodynamic
arrow of time: It is
something related to the second law of thermodynamics which says that the entropy
of a system always increases. And there present many disordered states than
ordered once. Suppose you have a jigsaw in a box. There is only one certain
ordered state of jigsaw but there are so many disordered states of that.
If a system starts out with an
ordered state and it evolves with the passes of time. There are so many chances
that the system will be disordered in future because there are many disordered
states.
We are able to remember our past
because our universe was started out with an ordered state and it is going on
its disordered state.
Psychological arrow of time: This arrow of time is related to our
mind. In the way, our mind works. We always remember an ordered state of a
system, increasing its entropy. Disorder increases with time because we measure
time in a direction in which disorders increase.
But why should the
thermodynamic arrow of time exist at all? Or, why should the universe be in a
state of high order at one end of time? Why is the direction of time in which
disorder increases?
There is no theory which can
answer these questions. Because our all theories break in the point of
singularity. But when the curvature of space-time become large, quantum theory
of gravity becomes important.
In a quantum theory of
gravity, in order to specify the state of the universe, one would still have to
say how the possible histories of the universe would behave at the boundary of
space-time. One could avoid this difficulty of having to describe what we do
not and cannot know only if histories satisfy no boundary condition: they are
finite in extent and but have no boundaries, edge or singularities. In that
case, the beginning of time would be a regular, smooth point of space-time and
the universe would have begun its expansion in a very smooth and ordered state.
There had to be small fluctuations in the density and velocities of particles.
